In this session, we’ll dive deeper into acupuncture and look at how it functions on a cellular level. Questions to be answered will include: How are researchers designing models to look at the effects of acupuncture at the level of cells? What happens to cells during acupuncture, specifically in terms of mitochondrial changes? Why do we care about mitochondrial changes clinically?

Patricia Baley graduated from the University of Basel Biocenter with a Ph.D. in cell biology in 1990 and completed her DVM at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. She has been studying Chinese Veterinary Medicine for more than 20 years and began practicing TCVM exclusively in 2004.
