235. Aristotle Taught Us How to Get Clients on Board with Oral Care

Aristotle posited that effective persuasion makes use of three appeals: Ethos (morality), logos (logic), and pathos (emotion). This “persuasion triad” can be used to get clients on board with dental care for their pets. In this session, attendees will learn how to present an effective argument for oral care using pathos as the driver.

Barden Greenfield is a board-certified veterinary dentist practicing in Memphis. He received his bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University and his DVM from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He became boarded in dentistry in 2011. Dr. Greenfield is a past president of the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC) and also serves on the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Veterinary Dentistry, which is the educational and fundraising branch of veterinary dentistry. Dr. Greenfield's passion for dentistry has led him to lecture on dental-related topics around the world. In 2016, he was the recipient of the prestigious AVDC Peter Emily Service Award.
