409. Type 2 Polysaccharide Storage Myopathy and Myofibrillar Myopathy in Warmbloods

Exercise intolerance in warmbloods is a frequent complaint for equine veterinarians. This session will review common causes. The diagnostic approach, etiology and treatment for type 2 polysaccharide storage myopathy and myofibrillar myopathy will also be presented.

Stephanie Valberg is an internationally known expert on neuromuscular disease in horses. Her research has focused on the genetic and environmental basis for muscle disease in horses, optimal methods for their diagnosis, and development of targeted treatment. She has received numerous awards for her work, including induction into the Equine Research Hall of Fame and giving the Milne Lecture at the American Association of Equine Practitioners Convention.
