411. Movement Disorders in Horses: Shivers, Stringhalt, and More

Beyond lameness and ataxia, there are a number of movement disorders in horses. This session will review movement disorders such as shivers, stringhalt, stiff horse syndrome, and myoclonus.

Stephanie Valberg is an internationally known expert on neuromuscular disease in horses. Her research has focused on the genetic and environmental basis for muscle disease in horses, optimal methods for their diagnosis, and development of targeted treatment. She has received numerous awards for her work, including induction into the Equine Research Hall of Fame and giving the Milne Lecture at the American Association of Equine Practitioners Convention.
