493. Why is This Dog Crying? Managing Canine Corneal Ulcers

This session will review corneal anatomy and physiology, basic classifications of corneal ulcers, and monitoring and rechecking patients with corneal ulcers. What owners need to know about caring for dogs with ulcers will also be discussed.

Pam earned her associate degree in veterinary technology from Purdue University. For the past 20 years, she has worked in the ophthalmology department at Purdue University Veterinary Hospital, where she is the lead veterinary ophthalmology technician. Pam was on the organizing committee for the Academy of Veterinary Ophthalmology Technicians (AVOT) and has since been the secretary. She teaches both veterinary technician students and veterinary students in the classroom, laboratory, and on the clinical floor. The author of several published articles, Pam has also spoken at the Purdue Veterinary Fall Conference, the Veterinary Ophthalmic Technician Society annual meeting (now AVOT), and the Purdue Veterinary Technician Symposium.
